Inverurie car wash given permission to stay open despite complaints from neighbours

Inverurie: So, there’s this car wash in Inverurie that’s been making waves with the locals. They just got the thumbs up to keep running, even with some complaints from nearby residents.

The owner, Ilim Tanyeli, has been running the place since last February without the proper go-ahead from the Aberdeenshire Council. He put a good chunk of change into fixing up the old building that used to be an electrical shop.

While six folks were not happy about the car wash and wanted it shut down, four others were all for it. The council made it clear that the car wash has to close by 6 PM, but staff can still hang around to clean up.

When the application was reviewed by the Garioch area committee, residents voiced their concerns about the noise from the power washers and vacuums. Some even said the spray from the wash was getting into their gardens.

Initially, all the washing was done outside, but after the complaints, they moved it indoors. Mr. Tanyeli is also planning to put in high-speed roller doors to keep the noise in check.

One councillor, David Keating, wanted to make sure that the car cleaning stays inside. He didn’t want them going back to washing outside again.

In the midst of all this, councillor Dominic Lonchay thought the application was a great idea and was happy to see the building being used again. He didn’t think the noise would be a big issue based on his own experiences.

Another councillor, Marion Ewenson, acknowledged the residents’ concerns but still wanted the car wash to stay open. She felt that the new closing time and roller doors would help ease the noise problem.

She did, however, suggest that the business should be kept an eye on to make sure they follow the new rules. In the end, the committee unanimously agreed to let the car wash continue its operations.
