The congregation has been meeting at Drummond School since their previous church closed back in 2010. They’ve been dreaming of a new space that’s not just for worship but also a community hub. They bought the land a few years ago, but then, you know, life happened—COVID hit, and everything got put on hold.
But now, they’ve successfully renewed their planning permission, and this time, they’re feeling optimistic. Rev Scott McRoberts mentioned that they’ve got better funding now, which is a huge relief. He pointed out that since moving closer to new housing areas, they’ve seen their congregation grow, especially with families.
The Highland Council has given the green light, saying the site is perfect for a neighborhood facility. They’ve also addressed some concerns about a nearby electrical substation, ensuring everything will be safe during construction.
It’s great to see the community coming together, and hopefully, this new church will help reconnect everyone after such a tough time. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for St Columba’s new home!
