Ilford: Police are searching for Pankaj Lamba, the husband of a 24-year-old woman named Harshita Brella, who was found dead in the trunk of a car. The body was discovered in Ilford, and Lamba is now the main suspect in her murder.
Harshita, originally from Corby in Northamptonshire, was reportedly killed before her body was placed in the vehicle on Brisbane Road in Ilford. Detectives believe that Lamba may have left the country after the incident.
The investigation began when Harshita’s body was found early Thursday morning. Police from Northamptonshire and the Metropolitan Police are working together on the case. Chief Inspector Paul Cash announced Lamba as the prime suspect during a press conference.
Authorities suspect that Lamba murdered Harshita in Northamptonshire earlier this month. They believe he transported her body to Ilford by car. Over 60 detectives are now involved in the investigation, following various leads and conducting house-to-house inquiries.
Police are asking for the public’s help. They want anyone with information about the case to come forward, no matter how small it may seem. Chief Inspector Cash emphasized the importance of gathering details to understand what happened and seek justice for Harshita.
Harshita was a young woman with a bright future, and her tragic death has shocked the community. Just two months before her death, she had been granted a domestic violence protection order against someone who had previously harmed her.
The police have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to prior contact with Harshita. The area where her body was found is a quiet residential street, and police have set up a crime scene to gather evidence.
Extra police patrols will be present in Corby to reassure residents after this distressing incident. Anyone with information can contact the police or Crimestoppers to help bring Harshita’s killer to justice.
