Darlington: Martina Perfetto and Vittorio Scole are gearing up to dazzle audiences in February with three stunning ballet productions: The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Romeo & Juliet.
Martina will take on the iconic roles of Odette/Odile, Marie (Clara), and Juliet, while Vittorio will portray Prince Siegfried, the Prince, and Romeo. How exciting is that?
Martina shared her journey, saying she started ballet at just five years old. By thirteen, she was already at the prestigious Teatro di San Carlo in Italy, knowing ballet was her path. She mentioned how tough the profession can be, but the joy of performing makes it all worthwhile.
Vittorio, who trained at the famous Vaganova Academy in St Petersburg, expressed gratitude for the Varna International Ballet and its talented masters. He feels his skills improve with every performance, which is pretty inspiring.
Both dancers have toured the UK before, and Martina sees it as a test of her professionalism. She loves feeling the audience’s energy when she steps on stage, saying it helps her connect with her character. It’s all about that shared experience!
Vittorio echoed her thoughts, noting how the British audience picks up on the subtleties in music and dance. He loves how they respond to his movements and emotions, making each performance special.
Staying fit on tour is crucial for them. Martina enjoys pasta, and after a successful show, she treats herself to something special. She also keeps her diet interesting with oat flakes and fruits.
Vittorio pointed out that ballet tours are intense and require them to be in top shape. If someone gets sick, finding a last-minute replacement is tough, so they have to stay healthy.
Despite their busy schedules, they find ways to relax. Martina has a soft spot for bakeries and loves to indulge her sweet tooth, even if it’s just window shopping. And Vittorio enjoys the beautiful sea resorts in Varna, where swimming helps him unwind.
Outside of ballet, they both explore other dance styles. Martina is into Latin American dance, which allows her to express her emotions, while Vittorio is currently fascinated by hip-hop and its evolving energy.
Mark your calendars! Varna International Ballet will be at Darlington Hippodrome from February 8 to 10. For more info or to book tickets, check out their website or call the Box Office.
