Walford: So, Paul Bradley is back in EastEnders as Nigel Bates, and it’s a bit of a rollercoaster. He popped back into the square after 26 years, and things aren’t looking too rosy for him. He’s reunited with Phil Mitchell, but it’s clear he’s struggling.

Nigel seems to be having a tough time, possibly homeless and separated from his wife, Julie. Phil, being the good mate he is, offers him a place to stay, and Nigel’s trying to help Phil deal with his own loneliness.

But there’s a lot of mystery around why Nigel’s really back. He mentioned splitting from Julie, but she’s been trying to get him to come home. Plus, Phil surprised him by wanting to give him a share of the Boxing Den, which Nigel turned down.

In the upcoming episodes, Nigel thinks about leaving again but ends up at the laundrette where he opens up to Yolande about his struggles. Phil gets worried and teams up with Sharon to find him, which adds to the drama.

As Nigel shares more with Yolande, Phil shows up, and it looks like things are about to get intense. Yolande encourages Nigel to be honest with Phil about his health, but what’s he really hiding?

Now, let’s chat about Paul Bradley himself. He’s 69 and hails from Warwickshire. He first graced our screens in EastEnders from 1992 to 1998, playing the lovable Nigel, who was known for his big heart and quirky style.

Nigel had a close bond with Dot Cotton, who treated him like a son. Sadly, his life took a turn when his wife Debbie died in a tragic accident, leaving him to raise her daughter, Clare, on his own.

In 1998, he fell for Julie, a teacher, and moved to Scotland, but now he’s back in Walford. Since leaving the show, Paul’s been busy with other TV gigs like Doctors and Holby City, where he played Elliot Hope for a decade.

He’s also done some stage work, including a role in Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap in London. It’s great to see him back on our screens, even if his character is going through a rough patch.

Don’t forget, EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30 PM on BBC One and iPlayer!
