Padstow: The old home of a famous smuggler has been revamped into a stylish holiday spot. It’s a cozy place for just two guests, and I bet Tom Parsons would be shocked to see it now.

Located near Booby’s Bay, this two-room cottage has a rich history. It was once the home of Tom Parsons, his wife Elizabeth, and their kids. Can you believe it dates back to the early 1800s?

Parsons was known as quite the character, often described as the worst in the area. There are wild stories about him shooting sailors and luring ships to their doom. But honestly, he was probably just a farmer making the best of what washed up on the shore.

Despite his reputation, he was never actually charged with any crimes. He likely just picked up whatever he could find after storms. It’s a classic case of someone trying to survive.

The cottage has seen better days, falling apart over the years. But thanks to the National Trust, it’s been beautifully restored. Oliver Davison, the surveyor in charge, shared that they had to modernize the tiny space while keeping it cozy.

They faced some tough challenges, especially fitting a luxury kitchen into such a small area. But with some clever design, they made it work. Now, it’s a stunning getaway with breathtaking views.

This charming spot can host two guests and a couple of dogs, but it doesn’t come cheap. A three-day stay will cost you between £850 and £950. Worth it for the views, right?

A spokesperson from the National Trust mentioned that the project had its hurdles, but they’re thrilled with how it turned out. It’s a real gem now, blending history with modern comfort.
