Taunton: Pauline Richards, a 74-year-old gran, has made history as the world’s longest-serving KFC worker. She’s been flipping chicken for an impressive 47 years at the Taunton branch.

Can you believe she’s served over six million drumsticks? That’s a whole lot of chicken! Pauline has done everything from cleaning to managing the store. She’s built a great rapport with her customers, which she says is the secret to her long career.

People come in just to see her, and if she’s on a break, they ask for her to come out and say hi. How sweet is that? Before her, the record was held by an American named Lorena Neely, who worked from 1976 to 2023.

Pauline works with younger colleagues, some as young as 17, and she’s not planning to retire anytime soon. She feels good and hasn’t had much illness in her life.

Her family is also part of the KFC legacy, with her daughter and grandson having worked there too. Pauline’s long service has made her a local celebrity, and she hasn’t had to buy a drink at the pub for two years! KFC even praised her as a role model in the community, saying she’s created a legacy that would make the Colonel proud.
