London: So, there’s this drama unfolding with Lord Charles Brocket. He’s in hot water for allegedly zooming through a zebra crossing on his moped while a pedestrian was crossing. This all went down on August 19 in Fulham.

A cyclist named Oscar Blanco reported the incident, saying he was shocked when Brocket’s moped sped past. Apparently, he even shouted “OMG” as it happened. There’s footage that supposedly shows the whole thing, with the pedestrian already on the crossing when Brocket came barreling through.

Brocket’s been charged with not giving way to a pedestrian, but he’s pleading not guilty. He told the court that stopping wouldn’t have been safe. He claims the pedestrian didn’t look both ways before stepping onto the crossing, and he only had 0.7 seconds to react.

He’s been riding bikes for over fifty years without any points on his license, so he’s pretty confident in his skills. He explained that a car in front of him blocked his view of the pedestrian, making it tough to stop in time.

At 72, Brocket is the 3rd Baron Brocket, inheriting the title from his grandfather. He’s also known for his stint on I’m a Celebrity… back in 2004, where he finished fourth and later published his autobiography.

According to court documents, Mr. Blanco was cycling along King’s Road when he noticed the pedestrian crossing. He had already stopped for a moment when Brocket zoomed past. He couldn’t believe the motorcyclist didn’t see him yielding to the pedestrian.

Blanco described the video, saying you can hear him gasp in disbelief. Brocket, who lives in Fulham, was initially prosecuted through a quick process but opted for a full court hearing to contest the charge. His trial is set for the new year.

Police confirmed that Brocket identified himself as the moped rider a few weeks later. He turned down a chance for an out-of-court resolution and wants to fight the charge in court.
