Ilkeston: A man named David Brudenell has been in serious trouble for stalking seven women. He used a fake Facebook profile to harass them, sending explicit messages and images. It’s pretty chilling stuff.
In one instance, he followed a woman and took a picture of her without her knowing. He then sent her that photo, which is just creepy. After he got caught, police found more messages on his phone that he had sent to other women, all of them inappropriate.
Detective Sergeant Jack Gibbs, who was in charge of the case, said Brudenell’s actions were part of a larger campaign of abuse. He tried to hide behind fake social media accounts but still managed to scare and threaten his victims.
Brudenell even left voice messages for one woman, including a terrifying threat to rape her. He was caught on CCTV following one of the victims, which helped the police build their case against him.
In the end, he admitted to all the charges and was sentenced to over four years in prison. He’s also been banned from contacting any of the women he targeted. Detective Staff Investigator Emilia Sterland praised the victims for their courage in coming forward.
She emphasized that stalking is a serious crime that can have lasting effects on victims. The police are committed to tackling this issue and encourage anyone facing similar situations to report it.
DS Gibbs also thanked the community for their support during the investigation. He reminded everyone that stalking can happen in many forms, both online and in person, and urged victims to reach out for help.
