Fort Myers Beach: Bonita Bill’s is shutting down after three decades. It’s a real bummer for fans of this laid-back spot.

With its catchy motto, “No shirt? No shoes? Can we get you a beer?” it’s been a go-to for both locals and tourists. People loved the good food, cold drinks, and those stunning views of Matanzas Pass.

The news hit social media early on December 26, announcing that the last day of service will be January 5. They thanked everyone for their support over the years.

Bonita Bill’s, located at 700, 702, 716, and 718 Fishermans Wharf, was listed for sale back in June for nearly $8 million. They mentioned they’d keep operating until the property sells.

It’s been a favorite beach bar for many, and it’s still open for now. They’re sticking to their regular hours, except for Mondays. So, if you want to grab a drink, you still can!

Originally a fish house in 1926, Bill Semmer took over in 1991 and turned it into Bonita Bill’s. Sadly, he passed away earlier this year, and that, along with the damage from Hurricane Ian, led to the decision to sell.

After reopening six months post-Hurricane Ian, they gained even more fans with a yacht on the dock next to the dining area. It became a popular photo spot!

They’re also selling limited-edition glassware for those wanting a piece of the nostalgia. If you’re interested, better hurry because they’re going fast!

Merch like hats and T-shirts will be available online soon, so keep an eye out for that. Visitors have been snapping pics with the boat next to Bonita Bill’s, but it’ll be gone soon.

So, if you’re in the area, make sure to swing by for one last drink and enjoy that beautiful waterfront view while you can!
