Melbourne: So, there’s this big legal mess brewing over some Holden cars. A bunch of class action lawyers are taking on General Motors, claiming that the transmission systems in these cars are faulty.
They’re looking for owners of 13 different models, like the Colorado and Commodore, to join in. If you bought one of these cars between January 2011 and December 2024, you might want to pay attention.
GM, which owns Holden, hasn’t said much about the lawsuit, just that they’re committed to their customers. But the lawyers are pushing for some serious compensation for folks who’ve had issues.
The problem seems to be with the torque converter, which is causing all sorts of annoying issues like shudders and leaks. Not fun, right?
Legal papers were served on GM recently, and now they’re calling for people to sign up for the class action. The lawyers are saying GM didn’t meet the quality standards set by Australian law, which is a big deal.
They’re aiming to get compensation for those who’ve suffered losses due to these transmission problems, but they’re not going after anything unrelated to the transmission itself.
It’s a pretty big deal since these transmission systems are used in a lot of larger vehicles. And just a heads up, this case is being pushed in the Federal Court of Australia.
By the way, GM stopped making right-hand drive cars back in 2020, which was a bummer for many fans. Holden has a long history, dating back to 1920, and the first car rolled out in 1948.
