London: So, Ian Hislop got hit by an electric bike while crossing the street. It happened on Wednesday, and he ended up needing some medical care. Ouch!
The 64-year-old was spotted with a white bandage on his head after the incident at an event later that evening. Talk about a rough day!
A spokesperson for Private Eye mentioned that he was struck by the bike while trying to cross the road. Thankfully, he’s said to be doing okay despite the scare.
This isn’t the first time he’s had a close call. Just last month, he was caught in a taxi incident where glass shattered around him. At first, people thought it was a gunshot, but it turned out to be a mechanical issue.
Both he and the taxi driver were fine after that one, but it definitely raised some eyebrows. The police even took the taxi for investigation.
For those who don’t know, Ian has been a staple on the BBC show Have I Got News For You for nearly 30 years, teaming up with comedian Paul Merton.
He’s also been the editor of Private Eye since 1986, which is known for its sharp satire and investigative journalism. He took the reins at just 26!
Over the years, he’s become quite the figure in the media world, even earning the nickname “Dalai Lama of Satire.” He’s also faced a ton of legal challenges due to the magazine’s bold reporting.
