Las Vegas: So, there’s this wild case going on. A guy named Anthony Newton is in some serious trouble. He’s accused of decapitating his wife’s lover, Ulisys Molina, after finding out the guy got her pregnant while he was locked up.
This all went down back in 2016, around Christmas. Prosecutors say Newton, along with his brother-in-law and another woman, lured Molina to an apartment and then killed him. It’s pretty gruesome stuff.
They claim Newton didn’t just kill him; he decapitated him and then dumped the body in a vacant lot. To make things worse, they even set the remains on fire. Molina’s family reported him missing, and his body was found early in 2017.
What’s even crazier is that a couple of years later, a five-year-old kid found one of Molina’s severed hands while checking the mailbox. No one knows how that hand ended up there or what the connection was. Talk about a nightmare scenario!
Now, Newton is facing the death penalty as they retry the case. His first trial ended in a mistrial because one of his co-defendants spilled the beans about Newton’s past in prison. The judge, Jacqueline Bluth, is keeping a close eye on things this time around.
The affair that sparked all this drama happened while Newton was in prison back in 2015. The court didn’t get into the details about his wife’s abortion, but the defense said she had a “medical procedure.” They argued there wasn’t enough proof to say he forced her into it.
The judge thought that topic might be too hot for the jury, so she decided to keep it out. The trial could drag on for up to three weeks, and if Newton gets found guilty, there’ll be another hearing to decide if he gets the death penalty.
