Hungerford Man Eithan Martin-Jones Swerves Jail Time Once Again
Eithan Martin-Jones dodges jail for the second time despite breaching his suspended sentence, but the judge warns him to stay on track
Hungerford, England, Eithan Martin-Jones, Suspended Sentence, Drink-Driving
Last year, he got caught drink-driving in a Volkswagen Polo that he took without permission. Not only that, but he was also driving without insurance or a valid license. All of this happened in Hungerford back in August 2023.
He was given a suspended 10-week prison sentence last April, but it came with some conditions. He had to do community service and keep up with probation appointments. But guess what? He didn’t stick to it.
In October, he was back in court for the first breach. The judge almost sent him to jail but decided to give him another chance. They added 20 more hours of community work instead.
Fast forward to January 17, and he’s back in court again. A probation officer told the judge that he hadn’t completed his community service and wasn’t following through with his mental health treatment.
His lawyer argued that he was struggling with a long commute to work in Wales and was trying to support his grandmother. Plus, he’s got a baby on the way!
The judge, Rachel Drake, was pretty stern. She said he was close to going to jail but acknowledged that he was trying to turn things around. In the end, she decided to keep the suspended sentence until February 2025 and slapped him with a £150 fine. Let’s hope he finally gets it together!
