Halifax: Today was quite the spectacle for Canada. Huge low-pressure systems were making waves on both coasts as winter officially kicked off.
While the Maritimes were buried under heavy snow, folks in British Columbia were dealing with milder, wetter conditions. It’s like winter couldn’t decide what mood to be in!
We saw some wild weather patterns swirling above us, and it was a sight to behold. The first day of winter brought a mix of snow squalls and cloud streets, especially around the Great Lakes.
In fact, some areas got over a meter of snow in November alone! And just before Christmas, another cold front rolled in, bringing more snow off southern Lake Huron.
But it wasn’t just snow; we also had some cool cloud formations thanks to warm, moist air mixing with the cold. It’s fascinating how nature works, right?
Meanwhile, the Atlantic provinces were hit hard by a winter storm, causing travel chaos. Some places had to dig out from 20-30 cm of snow!
And it’s not just Canada feeling the chill. Those Arctic winds can travel all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico, creating some intense weather events.
Over in the Pacific, a series of storms are set to drench British Columbia in the coming days. It’s going to be a wild ride for weather watchers!
