San Francisco: Lindy Waters III quickly realized that Steph Curry was something special during their first training camp. He had seen Curry’s dedication from a distance but was blown away when they became teammates.
Waters recalled his first encounter with Steph just days before camp. He noticed Curry quietly moving through the locker room, hoodie on, and he couldn’t help but be curious. They exchanged greetings, and Waters took a step back to observe how Curry prepared himself.
Growing up, Waters watched Curry dominate the league, and now he was right there with him. It was surreal. He felt like a kid in a candy store, soaking in every moment.
“It was a learning curve for me,” Waters said. “Seeing all those highlights is one thing, but being in the locker room with him? That’s a whole different vibe.”
It didn’t take long for Waters to notice Curry’s work ethic. “Maybe the first day or two, I realized everything people say about him is true. He’s a workhorse,” he shared.
For Waters, watching Curry up close was a game-changer. It was one thing to compete against him, but being on the same team? That was a whole new experience.
From the very start, Curry’s dedication and attitude stood out to Waters, making a lasting impression that he won’t forget.
