Accrington: So, there was this really brave schoolgirl, just 11 years old, who stood up to a thief trying to snatch her phone. Can you believe it?
This guy, Paul Coulwell, was on a roll, trying to rob two people in just a few minutes. It all went down early one morning. He first tried to grab a woman’s handbag but ended up running off when she wouldn’t let go.
Then, just five minutes later, he spotted our young hero walking down the street, glued to her phone. He thought he could just snatch it, but she held on tight and screamed. That scared him off!
Coulwell, who’s 34 and from Accrington, got caught and ended up pleading guilty to attempted robbery. He was sentenced to two years in prison. Good riddance, right?
Detective Con Vicky Heys from Lancashire Police said it was shocking how he targeted a child. She was glad the judge sent him away, making it clear that this kind of behavior won’t fly.
