Carnoustie: There’s some exciting news about the old church hall! It looks like it might not be demolished after all. Instead, there are plans to turn it into two cozy homes.
The Philip Hall on Dundee Street has been a part of the community for ages, serving local groups before it closed down. It’s a C-listed building, which means it has some historical significance.
Originally, Angus Council had given the green light for its demolition back in 2022. The Church of Scotland wanted to clear the site for new residential development. But now, fresh ideas are on the table!
Local architects, Brunton Design, are stepping in with a plan to keep the hall and transform it into two three-bedroom apartments. They’re aiming to preserve the building’s character while giving it a much-needed facelift.
Each apartment will come with parking and a garden, which is pretty sweet. The renovations will include renewing the external render and replacing all the windows, making it look fresh and inviting.
Angus Council will review the application soon, so fingers crossed for this historic gem!
