Currimundi: This tragic story is really heartbreaking. A man named Philip Andrew Hunter has been charged with assaulting his partner, Kristy Louise Hunter. Sadly, she passed away from her injuries in the hospital on Christmas Eve.

It all started when emergency services were called to their home on December 22, 2024, after reports of a disturbance. Kristy, who was 47, was found with injuries that weren’t life-threatening at first. But after being taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, she died just two days later.

Initially, Philip was charged with a lesser offense, but after Kristy’s death, the charges were upgraded to acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm. Court documents suggest he struck her with an axe handle, which is just horrifying.

Philip has been in custody since the incident and is set to appear in court again in February. Meanwhile, police are still investigating what happened that day.

Kristy had a tough life, having been born with a congenital heart condition. She fought hard to live and was a loving mother. It’s just so sad to see her life cut short like this.
