Cwmbran: John Swain, an 86-year-old former lorry driver, sadly passed away in December. His family has come up with a unique way to say goodbye.
Instead of a traditional hearse, they’re using a flatbed lorry to take him to Gwent Crematorium next week. They’ve mapped out a route that includes places he loved in Cwmbran.
Rob Swain, one of John’s sons, runs RJS Recovery. He shared that he promised his dad years ago that he’d get this special send-off. It’s a touching tribute to their bond.
The convoy will kick off from the Olive Tree in Croesyceiliog at 1:20 PM on January 8. It’ll pass by significant spots, including the police station and Springvale.
They’ll make a few turns, stopping briefly at Tillsland before heading to Llwyncelyn Cemetery. After that, they’ll continue to Gwent Crematorium for the service at 2 PM.
Afterward, the family plans to gather for a wake at the Olive Tree, celebrating John’s life with friends and loved ones.
