Northwich: A small business owner is absolutely thrilled with the community support she’s been getting since she kicked off her sweet-treat company.

The Bake Box Cheshire opened its doors in mid-September, serving up delicious cakes and brownies to local cafés and residents.

Jess Chappell, 36, has been swamped with orders lately, turning her baking passion into a full-time gig.

She’s got her sights set on opening a shop in Winnington within the next year, but for now, she’s whipping up goodies from her home kitchen.

Jess shared, “I really want a bigger kitchen.”

When she first started, she thought she’d only be baking a couple of days a week, but things took off way faster than she expected.

“Even my customers are amazed at how quickly this has grown,” she said.

Jess had aimed to supply five businesses by Christmas, but she hit that goal in just three weeks!

“I thought it would take me six months to get here,” she added.

When asked about her inspiration, Jess said, “I’ve been baking my whole life. People kept telling me my blondies and brownies were the best they’d ever had.”

She even made that her cheeky logo: “The Best You’ve Ever Had.”

Looking ahead, Jess wants to make sure her business can grow. “I want to hire staff in the future,” she explained.

“If it all relies on me, then it’s probably not the right product for my business.”

She’s also keen on keeping things fresh and exciting, just like her brand.

To get into the holiday spirit, Jess added a festive brownie yule log to her menu.

“I posted it on my Instagram story, and it blew up! I got 50 orders in just 48 hours,” she said.

Despite having only around 700 local followers, they’re super engaged and supportive.

“I was really busy leading up to Christmas, making tons of yule logs,” she laughed.

In Northwich town center, she supplies to local spots like Poppy Rose Tea Rooms, Goblin Coffee & Beer, and Bea’s Place, a play café for little ones.

“It’s great to build relationships with these independent businesses,” she said. “I really feel supported by them.”

Jess previously ran a successful online artwork business, but it took a hit due to Brexit changes.

“Starting this new venture has helped me find myself again,” she reflected.
