Birkenhead: So, Taron Egerton recently popped up on Netflix’s TikTok, sharing some cool Welsh words with fans. He’s got a new action thriller called Carry-On that just dropped on December 13.
Even though he was born in Birkenhead, Taron grew up in Wales. He kicked off the video with a friendly “shwmae” to let everyone know about his Welsh roots. He joked that he sounds American in the movie but wanted to remind folks he’s from Wales.
In the video, he taught some Welsh slang that he thinks might stump most Americans. He even mentioned living in that super long-named village, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, during his early years.
His favorite Welsh phrases include “nefi blw” and “bobol bach.” He also shared that “buwch goch gota” means ladybird, which he humorously explained translates to “little red cow.” He said, “We’re an eccentric people,” and it’s hard not to chuckle at that!
In Carry-On, Taron plays Ethan Kopek, a TSA officer who gets blackmailed into letting a dangerous package through security on Christmas Day. He compared the film to the classic Die Hard, which is a fun nod to the holiday season.
