Los Angeles: It’s such a heartbreaking situation. Dalyce Curry, the talented actress, has sadly passed away due to the wildfires that swept through the area.
The 95-year-old was found in her home in Altadena, which was completely destroyed by the Eaton Fire. The coroner confirmed the tragic news on Sunday.
Dalyce, affectionately known as Momma D, had a rich career, appearing in classics like The Blues Brothers and Lady Sings the Blues. Just a few days before, her granddaughter had dropped her off after a long day at the hospital.
When Kelley woke up the next morning, she saw a message about a power outage at her grandmother’s house. Rushing over, she was met with the devastating news that her grandmother’s home was gone.
“It was total devastation,” Kelley recalled. The only thing left was her grandmother’s blue Cadillac. Sadly, it was confirmed that Dalyce didn’t make it. Just days earlier, Kelley had been holding onto hope for a miracle.
As the search continued, her granddaughters shared their love for her. Kelley expressed how much Dalyce adored Altadena, saying, “No one loved that city more than my grandmother.”
She also raised concerns about the emergency response, emphasizing that many elderly residents don’t rely on cellphones for alerts. “We need better systems in place,” she said.
Loree Beamer-Wilkinson, another granddaughter, shared how vibrant Dalyce was at 95. “She loved life and took great care of herself,” she said, reflecting on the privilege of having her as a grandmother.
