Hexham: Scott Mitchell Veterinary Care is looking to keep some portable cabins they set up after Storm Desmond caused a lot of flooding. They put these cabins next to their main office to help with the aftermath.

The planning application was submitted by Napper Architects. These cabins have been used for various purposes, like offices and animal storage, since the flooding made other spaces unusable.

Over the years, the cabins have served different roles, but they’ve always been secondary to the main functions of the vet practice. Right now, they’re used for day wards, isolation areas, and housing animals.

The practice believes these cabins have really helped their business grow and create more jobs in the area. They’ve been around for nearly a decade, and the design statement highlights their modest size and minimal visual impact, thanks to some natural timber fencing that blends in nicely.

The proposal argues that keeping these cabins will benefit the local community, both visually and economically. They’re asking for approval to keep them in place, believing it will make the area better overall.
