From Christmas Island to Snowflake, Canada has some truly festive spots to explore this holiday season
Christmas Island, Snowflake, Cranberry Junction, Reindeer Station, Canada
Canada: There are so many cheerful spots across the country, and some of them have the most festive names! Let’s dive into a few of these merry places.
Cranberry Junction in B.C. is a fun little community that celebrates the cranberry, a holiday favorite. B.C. is one of the top cranberry producers, so it makes sense to have a place named after this tasty fruit.
Then there’s Christmas Island in Nova Scotia. This small town, with about 1,700 residents, gets super busy during the holidays. Their post office sends out around 14,000 packages each year, all stamped with the Christmas Island postmark. How cool is that?
Next up is Snowflake in Manitoba. The name fits perfectly since Manitoba is known for its snowy winters. Winnipeg, for instance, has snow on the ground for about 132 days a year!
These towns really embrace the holiday spirit, and they’re a joy to visit any time of year. Plus, there are even more festive names like Holly in Ontario and Reindeer Station in the Northwest Territories.
Speaking of Reindeer Station, it was set up in 1932 to house reindeer for the Inuvialuit, but sadly, it’s now abandoned. No reindeer or people live there anymore.
