Los Angeles: Australian model and podcast host Chloe Fisher is stepping up to help her second home, LA, as it faces some serious wildfires. She’s started a fundraiser to support the communities hit hard by these devastating fires.
Since January 11, LA has been battling a series of wildfires that have tragically taken at least 10 lives and destroyed over 10,000 buildings. It’s been a tough time for everyone in the area.
Chloe, who’s married to DJ FISHER, felt compelled to act after getting flooded with messages from people wanting to help but unsure where to donate. So, she set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for those affected.
She kicked off the campaign with a generous $5,000 contribution, aiming for a total of $100,000. The funds will go directly to those impacted, helping them get back on their feet.
Chloe mentioned that any leftover money would go to wildlife and animal rescue organizations, which is a nice touch. In just 24 hours, the fundraiser has already pulled in $14,000 from 169 donations.
“LA has become our second home, and it’s heartbreaking to see our friends and loved ones suffering,” she said. The fires have not only taken lives but also destroyed homes and beloved pets, leaving a significant mark on the community.
As the fires rage on, they’ve claimed 11 lives and forced 180,000 people to evacuate. Local officials are facing challenges in managing the situation, with curfews in place to prevent looting while firefighters and the National Guard work tirelessly to control the flames.
Chloe is also known for her podcast, Darling, Shine!, and she’s using her platform to rally support. GoFundMe has even set up a dedicated hub for verified fundraisers related to the fires, making it easier for people to contribute.
With dry conditions and strong winds fueling the fires, it looks like they’ll continue to burn for a while. It’s a tough situation, but the community is coming together to support one another.
