Teignmouth: A young couple, Louis and Amy, are heartbroken after their beach takeaway, LJ’s Beach Shack, was destroyed by a fire. They’re overwhelmed by the support from the community, which has raised over £7,000 to help them rebuild.
The fire started accidentally when a chip fryer caught fire. Louis tried to put it out, but it reignited and quickly got out of control. Thankfully, he wasn’t hurt, but the loss has hit them hard.
Just two days after the blaze, the couple shared their gratitude for the outpouring of help. They’ve always given back to the community, so it’s been a shock to receive so much support in return.
Firefighters responded quickly, but the flames were fierce. Photos show the charred remains of their beloved shack, a place they’ve worked hard to make a staple in the area.
Despite the devastation, they’re hopeful. The couple has put their wedding plans on hold, focusing instead on rebuilding their business. They were amazed by the community’s response, with many people showing up to help clean up the debris.
Once they’re back on their feet, they plan to celebrate with a grand reopening, offering free food and drinks to thank everyone who supported them. It’s a tough time, but the love from their community is giving them strength to move forward.
