Thames Valley: So, the head of the Thames Valley police, Jason Hogg, has been suspended right away. It’s all about some serious misconduct allegations that are being looked into.

The Independent Office of Police Conduct, or IOPC for short, is on the case. They’re checking out whether Hogg and another senior officer dropped the ball on investigating a former officer who might have kept sensitive police info after leaving the force.

Steve Noonan, who runs operations at the IOPC, mentioned that they’ve been digging into this since April 2023. They’re looking into possible gross misconduct, which is a big deal, especially when it comes to honesty and integrity in the police force.

Matthew Barber, the police and crime commissioner, said this is serious stuff. He pointed out that the suspension doesn’t mean Hogg is guilty of anything; it’s just a step to make sure everything is handled properly.

Barber also noted that this news might hit hard for the officers and staff at Thames Valley. He’s pushing for the IOPC to wrap up their investigation quickly so everyone can get clarity on the situation.

In the meantime, Deputy Chief Constable Ben Snuggs will take over Hogg’s duties until they find a temporary replacement, which should happen by the end of January. Hogg only took the top job in April 2023, so this is quite a shake-up.
