Barber’s Chair Disguise Fails as Swansea Crime Boss is Arrested
A Swansea man was caught trying to change his look while police closed in on his drug operation
Swansea, Wales, Cocaine, Organised Crime, Drug Trafficking
The police got wind of it through an investigation called Operation Bluebird. They were doing some serious undercover work, following the brothers and their crew. One of the brothers, Ryan Morgan, was even caught in a barber’s chair trying to change his look while getting a shave. Talk about a last-minute disguise!
During the operation, police seized around half a million pounds worth of cocaine and even a sawn-off shotgun. Seven members of this crime group ended up with a total of over 58 years in prison. The court heard that the Morgan brothers had no legit jobs to explain their flashy lifestyles, which raised a lot of eyebrows.
The police tracked their movements and found out they were in cahoots with other crime groups in the Midlands. They were making trips back and forth, even to Newport, to meet up with other shady characters. It was a whole network of drug trafficking.
On July 13, 2023, police followed a recovery vehicle driven by one of the gang members, Nicky Davies, all the way to Coventry. They intercepted it back in Swansea and found 7kg of high-purity cocaine hidden in the car.
Things got wild when police tried to arrest Ryan Morgan in Hafod, but he rammed their cars and made a run for it. He was eventually caught in that barber shop, though, trying to change his appearance.
The investigation, led by Tarian, uncovered over eight kilos of cocaine and a bunch of other drug-related items. The Morgan brothers were at the top of this whole operation, and they played key roles in the conspiracy.
In the end, Ryan Morgan got 16 years, while his brother Leon got 10. Others involved received various sentences too. After the sentencing, a detective said they were glad to see these guys off the streets, emphasizing that illegal drugs have no place in society. It’s a big win for the community!
