London: A woman is sharing her terrifying experience after a man in a balaclava cut off her ponytail in a shocking surprise attack. It happened while she was taking out the trash at her apartment building.

The 55-year-old victim, who asked to remain anonymous, was just doing a simple chore when the attacker struck. She believes he used a switchblade to slice through her long braid, which she had been growing for years.

She described the moment as surreal. “He came up behind me, held on to my neck and with one swipe of a blade slashed my braid off. It was over in seconds,” she recalled. “He didn’t say a word to me.”

She was just a few steps from her front door when it happened. The attacker was quick, disappearing as fast as he appeared. “He was like a magician – he was gone in a flash,” she said, still shaken by the incident.

After the attack, she started screaming, and the man took off. All she could see was his long black coat. “It was scary. I don’t get scared easy but that scared me. I’m not going up to the bin chute again,” she added.

Other neighbors have reported similar incidents, where a man approached women from behind to cut their hair. “He could be getting braver and braver,” she warned.

However, the police have only confirmed this one incident. A spokesperson mentioned they are aware of social media posts about assaults in the area but are currently investigating just this case.

Local officers are increasing patrols to ensure safety. The woman has urged others to stay vigilant, especially women and young girls.

After the attack, she felt uneasy even going to the hospital for an unrelated issue. “I stood up in the waiting room leaning against the wall so no one could come up behind me,” she said.

If anyone has more information or has experienced something similar, they are encouraged to reach out to the police.
