Cobb County, Georgia, Olivia Pugh, Jerome Cox, Vehicular Homicide, DUI

Cobb County: The family of Olivia Pugh, a teenager killed by a car last year, is heartbroken over the trial’s outcome. Jerome Cox, the driver, was found guilty of misdemeanor vehicular homicide but only has to serve one more day in jail.

Cox was sentenced to a year, but since he spent 364 days in jail before the trial, he walks free after just one more day. Olivia’s family and friends are understandably upset. They feel like justice wasn’t served.

During the trial, Cox’s lawyers claimed Olivia ran into the road and wasn’t in a crosswalk. They argued he didn’t see her because he wasn’t drinking. But the Pugh family believes that’s just shifting blame.

Olivia’s father expressed his anger, saying it’s hard to watch his wife grieve every day. He feels the system failed them, especially since there were open beer containers in Cox’s car. The family is left feeling frustrated and hurt, questioning how this could happen.
