Haverfordwest: So, it turns out that 25 folks got hit with fines for littering in Pembrokeshire. This all went down at the Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on January 9.
Each of these littering cases involved dropping trash in places covered by the Environmental Protection Act. Can you believe it?
One guy, Paul Andrew from Stepaside, tossed a rolled-up cigarette on Jones Terrace in Tenby. Not cool, right?
Then there’s Wayne Balch from Dover, who left a cigarette butt at Withybush Retail Park. Seriously, people need to be more mindful.
Omid Buergin from London also dropped a cigarette in Upper Frog Street, Tenby. It’s like a trend or something!
Matthew Collins from Milford Haven was caught leaving a cigarette butt at McDonald’s in Merlin’s Bridge. Fast food and littering don’t mix!
Simon Green from Capel Dewi dropped a rolled-up cigarette in Springfield Retail Park, Haverfordwest. Come on, guys!
There were others too, like Aisha Jephcott from Cosheston and Alison Mills from Swansea, both caught with their cigarette butts in Pembroke Dock and Tenby.
Most of these cases were proven without the defendants even showing up. Each fine was around £220, plus costs, which adds up quickly!
Some people did show up, like Daines and Davies, who pleaded guilty and got fined £40 each. It’s a reminder that littering can really cost you.
In total, seven cases were dropped, and one will go to trial later this month. It’s a bit of a mess, but hopefully, this will make people think twice before tossing their trash.
