Ilford: A heartbreaking story has emerged about Harshita Brella, a 24-year-old woman found dead in the boot of a car. Just weeks before her death, she told her mother that her husband, Pankaj Lamba, was going to kill her.

Harshita’s body was discovered in a silver Vauxhall Corsa on November 14. Authorities suspect she was strangled in Corby, Northamptonshire, on November 10, and her body was transported to Ilford the next day.

In a touching interview, her mother, Sudesh Kumari, shared that Harshita was living in fear. She said, “He was making her life miserable,” and recalled her daughter’s words, “I will not go back to him. He will kill me.”

Harshita’s family believes Lamba is currently in India. However, they’ve been told by Delhi police that no request has been made by Northamptonshire Police to arrest him.

Her father, Satbir Brella, was visibly upset during an interview, expressing the pain his family has endured since losing her. He mentioned that Harshita had confided in him about the abuse she suffered at Lamba’s hands.

In August, Harshita reported domestic abuse to the police, leading to Lamba’s arrest on September 3. Unfortunately, he was released on bail, and a domestic violence protection order was issued.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct is now looking into how Northamptonshire Police handled the situation, while an international manhunt for Lamba is underway.
