Harrow: A man named Daniel Kirwan has been banned from having dogs after he mistreated his Great Dane cross, Lizzie. Neighbors reported hearing disturbing sounds from his home, which raised alarms about the dog’s well-being.
Kirwan faced the music in court after the RSPCA looked into the situation. They got involved when someone alerted them about the possible abuse. The evidence included shocking video and audio clips that showed Lizzie in distress.
In the recordings, you could hear her yelping and Kirwan shouting. An RSPCA expert said it was clear that Lizzie was scared and anxious. The way Kirwan treated her was not just harsh; it was downright frightening for the poor dog.
When the RSPCA officer visited Kirwan’s flat, they found Lizzie acting very submissive and unsure. It was heartbreaking to see her like that. The officer noted that Lizzie seemed terrified both at home and outside.
During the court proceedings, it came out that Kirwan had his own struggles with mental health and drug issues. He was fined and ordered to pay costs, but more importantly, he can’t own dogs for a while.
Lizzie is now safe and being cared for by the RSPCA. They mentioned how fearful she was when she first arrived. It’s a relief that people spoke up about the abuse, allowing the RSPCA to step in and help.
Kirwan also received a community order, which means he has to do some rehabilitation work. It’s a tough lesson, but hopefully, it helps him turn things around.
