Hampshire surgeon jailed for ‘unsafe’ mobile circumcisions

Hampshire Surgeon Jailed for Unsafe Mobile Circumcisions

A surgeon has been sentenced for performing unsafe circumcisions on young boys

Hampshire, Birmingham, Mohammad Siddiqui, Circumcision, Child Safety

Hampshire: So, there’s this surgeon named Mohammad Siddiqui, right? He’s 58 and was going around the country doing circumcisions on boys as young as 14. But here’s the kicker—he was doing it in people’s homes, and it was all super unsafe.

Parents were really worried. One mom said she can still hear her son crying in pain during the procedure. It’s heartbreaking. Siddiqui got suspended from Southampton General Hospital back in 2015 after some serious complaints.

He was found guilty of messing up procedures on four babies. Even after being kicked off the medical register, he kept doing his thing. He was using anaesthetic he got while working at a hospital, which is just wild.

The whole thing is pretty shocking because non-therapeutic circumcision isn’t even regulated. So, he thought he could just keep going. He was using this anaesthetic in really unsafe ways, too.

In court, one family shared how he showed up without any proper gear or clean tools. They were horrified. The cream he used was supposed to numb the area for an hour but was only on for two minutes. Can you imagine?

A little baby had to spend two weeks in the hospital because of this guy. Siddiqui ended up pleading guilty to 25 charges, including actual bodily harm and cruelty to a child. He got over five and a half years in jail.

The police investigator said it was a strange case for them, but Siddiqui just didn’t seem to care about the risks he was putting these kids in. It’s a real betrayal of trust for the families who thought he was there to help.
