Gwent Country Road Closed for 5 Days Due to Emergency Repairs
A road in Monmouthshire is shut for five days for urgent repairs after a water main burst, with diversions in place for drivers.

Monmouthshire: A country road in Monmouthshire is closed right now. They’re doing emergency repairs because a water main burst. It’s a bit of a hassle for drivers.
The road connects the A4042 through Nant-y-derry to Star Road, near Goytre, just north of Pontypool. So, if you usually take that route, you’ll need to find another way.
Morrison Water Services is on the job for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water. They’ve set up the closure to fix the burst main as quickly as possible.
A spokesperson from Monmouthshire council mentioned that the closure will last until January 6, 2025. They’ve got a signed diversion in place to help folks navigate around the area.
The diversion will take you via the A4042 and Star Road, so keep that in mind if you’re heading out. Stay safe out there!
