Edinburgh: A passenger on a train from Edinburgh Waverley to London Kings Cross had a tough time recently. He missed his daughter’s 21st birthday because of delays.

Wilson Chowdhry was all set to leave at 6:30 PM on January 14. But then, a vehicle crashed into a bridge, causing a big holdup.

According to Edinburgh Live, the train finally left about 40 minutes late and crawled along the route. It was a real bummer for Wilson, who had woken up at 3 AM for a work meeting in Edinburgh.

He was really looking forward to celebrating his daughter’s big day after getting back to England. He arrived in Edinburgh at 10 AM and planned to catch the 6:30 PM train to make it in time for dinner.

But with the delays, those plans just fell apart. Wilson expressed his disappointment, saying it would affect his daughter and that he’d arrive quite late.

He said, “Our plan is now dissolved. I’ll have to miss the meal where we would have been celebrating.” It was especially tough for him since it was the first time he’d missed her birthday.

Wilson did mention that his main worry was for the lorry driver’s safety, but he couldn’t help feeling let down by the situation.

LNER has been contacted for a comment on the delays.
