South Cambridgeshire: A gang leader from Thriplow has been sentenced to over 30 years in prison. Ashley Latimer-Basill, 36, was the head of a crime group that sold guns and drugs across the UK.

He and his associates, including his brother Michael and Robert Kenna, were caught after a thorough investigation by the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit. They were found guilty of serious crimes, including converting blank guns into live firearms.

Latimer-Basill received a hefty sentence of 30 years and six months, the longest in this investigation. His brother Michael got 20 years and four months, while Kenna was sentenced to 17 years and 11 months.

During a police raid, officers discovered a stash of class A drugs and a significant amount of ammunition. The gang was also involved in producing a dangerous drug mix known as ‘zombie dust’.

Detectives highlighted the severity of their actions, noting that the firearms they produced could have been used to harm others. The sentences reflect the serious nature of their crimes and the dedication of the police in tackling organized crime.
