Greenwich: The Department for Education has shared some interesting rankings for secondary schools in the area. They’ve given each school a score based on how much progress students made from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4.

This data really shines a light on schools where students are doing better than the national average. We’ve put together a list of the secondary schools in Greenwich along with their scores, so you can see how they stack up.

Just a heads up, special schools aren’t included in this ranking. Now, let’s break it down a bit.

First up, we have the schools that are well above average. Ark Greenwich Free School leads the pack with a score of 1.4, followed by St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive School at 0.74.

Next, we have the above-average schools. Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls scored 0.4, while Harris Academy Greenwich and Eltham Hill School scored 0.35 and 0.25, respectively.

Then there are the average schools. Leigh Academy Blackheath scored 0.18, and both Leigh Academy Halley and St Ursula’s Convent School scored 0.09. Woolwich Polytechnic School and Thomas Tallis School are just below average with scores of -0.04 and -0.12.

Moving on to the below-average schools, St Paul’s Academy scored -0.25, and Saint Mary Magdalene Church of England All Through School followed closely at -0.26. The John Roan School, Leigh Stationers’ Academy, and Royal Greenwich Trust School also fell below average.

Finally, we have the schools that are well below average. Plumstead Manor School scored -0.65. But remember, a negative score doesn’t mean students aren’t improving or that the school is failing. It just means they made less progress compared to other students in England with similar starting points.

On the flip side, a positive score indicates that students are making more progress. It’s all about perspective!
