Greenwich: So, guess what? The Greenwich Maritime Museum is gearing up to open a new exhibition all about pirates! It’s set to kick off on March 29, and it sounds super interesting.
This exhibition will dive into the real history of pirates and how they still shape our culture today. You know, those swashbuckling characters we see in movies? Well, it’s time to separate fact from fiction.
They’ll be showcasing true stories of famous pirates like Blackbeard and Anne Bonny, and even exploring piracy from places like the South China Sea to North Africa. It’s going to be a real eye-opener!
Plus, they’re bringing in a bunch of cool stuff from pop culture, like original illustrations from Captain Pugwash and costumes from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean. How awesome is that?
And if you’re a fan of the golden age of piracy, which was from the 1680s to the 1720s, you’ll get to learn all about what life was really like for these pirates.
There’s even a section called ‘Global Pirates’ that will feature some unique artifacts, including a hanging captured from a Chinese pirate’s fleet. It’s all happening until January 4, 2026, so you’ve got plenty of time to check it out!
