Greater Manchester: It’s been a pretty chilly week here. We even had our first snowfall of the year, which was a bit of a surprise!
With all that snow and ice, the roads were a mess. Public transport took a hit too, and Manchester Airport had to close its runways for a bit on Thursday. Plus, those icy buttons at pedestrian crossings caused some serious delays in places like Rochdale and Oldham.
But hey, if you liked the winter wonderland vibe, you’ll be happy to hear that temperatures are finally creeping up this weekend.
No weather warnings are in place for Saturday and Sunday, so that’s a relief! It’ll still be cold, but not as frigid as earlier this week.
Saturday kicks off with some sunshine, but don’t get too comfy; clouds will roll in by the afternoon, bringing a chance of rain and sleet. Expect highs around 2°C, dropping to -2°C overnight.
There might be some freezing fog in spots, but it should clear up for most of us.
Sunday looks a bit better, with temperatures hitting around 5°C. The day will start off cloudy but should clear up to some sunny intervals by late morning.
Looking ahead, next week is set to be milder, but we’ll see some rain returning. The Met Office mentioned it’ll be windier on Monday with possibly heavy rain in Cumbria. Tuesday and Wednesday will be breezy too, with some drizzle but also plenty of dry spells. So, it’s looking like a mixed bag!
