Greater Manchester: The area is still feeling the chill after a week of freezing temperatures. Snow and ice are sticking around, making travel a bit of a nightmare.
There were weather warnings all week, and let me tell you, the icy conditions caused quite a bit of chaos. Just the other night, the UK had its coldest night of the winter!
The Met Office reported that temperatures dropped to their lowest this year in a quiet Scottish village, hitting nearly -20C. In Greater Manchester, we’re not under any weather warnings right now, but it’s still freezing out there.
Good news is, the forecast for Sunday and beyond looks a bit brighter, with temperatures expected to rise slowly. But don’t let your guard down just yet; an amber cold weather alert is still in effect.
This alert, issued by the UK Health Security Agency, was supposed to end today at noon, but it’s now extended until 9 am on Tuesday, January 14. Looks like the cold is sticking around for a while longer!
