Greater Manchester: The city is gearing up for a seriously soggy start to 2025. Heavy rain is expected to pour down tonight, making things pretty messy.

Despite the downpours, thousands are still heading to St Peter’s Square for the fireworks. It’s a bit wild, but the council says the show will go on, rain or shine.

There’s an amber weather warning in effect for areas like Bolton, Bury, and Wigan. Plus, six flood warnings have been issued, so folks need to stay alert.

And it doesn’t look like the rain will let up anytime soon. The Met Office is predicting more heavy showers for New Year’s Day. If you’re curious about the hourly forecast, it’s all laid out below.

As we hit noon, the rain might ease a little more, with a 60% chance of showers and still around 6C.

We could see some sun peeking through, with a 50% chance of rain and temperatures staying at 6C.
