Southport: So, there’s been another arrest linked to that wild riot last year. A 35-year-old guy from Greater Manchester got picked up by the police. This all kicked off after a really tragic triple stabbing in the area.
Remember that awful day? Three little girls lost their lives during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class. It was just heartbreaking. The chaos in Southport was fueled by some false rumors about the attacker, and it led to a lot of trouble not just there but also in places like Manchester and Bolton.
Now, this latest arrest brings the total to 167 people nabbed in connection with the riots. The police have charged 125 of them, and a bunch have already been sentenced to a whopping 198 years in total. Detective Inspector Paula Jones made it clear that they’re not letting this slide. They’re on a mission to find everyone involved.
She said the behavior during the riots was disgraceful and they’re determined to hold everyone accountable, even those who traveled from other areas to join in. They’re also asking anyone with info to step forward and help out.
Oh, and there’s this 18-year-old named Axel Rudakubana who’s facing some serious charges related to the stabbing. He’s pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder and a bunch of other stuff. His trial is set to kick off on January 20 and could last up to six weeks. It’s a lot to unpack, for sure.
