Daventry: So, get this! Just before Christmas, there was a serious Guinness shortage. Some pubs even had to ration their pints. Can you believe it?

Supermarkets were on the brink of running out too, thanks to folks stockpiling. Diageo, the company behind Guinness, even had to call in backup supplies from Ireland.

But here’s the kicker: some thieves decided to make things worse. They stole a truck loaded with 400 kegs of Guinness, which is over 20,000 pints! This happened in mid-December at a logistics hub near Daventry.

The truck was supposed to help pubs that were desperate for kegs during the busy holiday season. Diageo hasn’t commented on the theft, but a subcontractor reported it to the police.

As of now, no one knows where the stolen Guinness is. It’s a real mystery! The shortage has been partly due to its rising popularity with Gen Z, who love to snap pics with their pints for social media.

This isn’t the first time food and drink have been targeted during the holidays. Just a couple of months ago, a chef had his van with 2,500 pies stolen. He even asked the thieves to return them to help those in need!

And remember the cheese heist? A guy got arrested for stealing 22 tonnes of cheese from a dairy. It seems like the holiday season brings out the worst in some people!

This isn’t even the first Guinness heist. Back in 2007, thieves made off with 180 kegs of Guinness and more from the brewery right before Christmas. What a wild time for beer lovers!
