Spalding: Anneka Riley is on a mission to raise £50,000 to turn her new home into a vibrant purple respite care facility. She wants to create a welcoming space for those needing temporary care.
Her place in Moulton Chapel will be a haven for children and adults with various needs, all decked out in purple. It’s a fun twist that she believes will make everyone feel at home.
Anneka runs a business called Anneka’s Angels, providing short-term respite care for people with disabilities, mental health issues, and autism. She’s also caring for a 27-year-old from Grantham full-time.
The house, built in the 1880s, is getting a makeover with new bathrooms, windows, and flooring, all in her favorite color. “Everything will be purple—furnishings, carpets, walls, and ceilings,” she says.
To fund her renovations, she’s launched a JustGiving campaign. The property has plenty of open space, which is a big plus for her plans.
She’s already got a kitchen designer on board to create purple cupboards and even purple quartz worktops. A local glazing company is set to install purple windows, too.
Originally from Newark, Anneka has provided care for families in Grantham, Long Bennington, and Allington. She’s passionate about making her clients feel safe and happy.
“The kids I care for already associate purple with me, and I know they’ll love seeing my house in that color,” she explains. It’s all about creating a calming atmosphere for them.
Anneka believes that the purple theme will help her clients feel secure and joyful in their new surroundings. Parents have already noticed how calm and happy their kids are after spending time with her.
She’s excited about the potential of her new home, saying it will bring joy and reassurance to those she cares for. Her long-term vision includes adding an indoor pool for therapy and play.
She’s also looking into daytime care and drop-in services for parents and caregivers. Anneka wants to create a space where everyone can be themselves without any judgment.
Though she’s just starting out, local families have already shown their support, contributing over £500 to her crowdfunding campaign. She knows how vital respite care is for families and wants to be a reliable support system.
Anneka’s goal with Anneka’s Angels is to provide a place where individuals of all abilities feel valued and comfortable. She’s also seeking donations of sensory toys and volunteers for gardening as renovations progress.
With hopes to open later this year, Anneka is excited about the future of her respite care facility and the positive impact it will have on the community.
