Glasgow: An 85-year-old grandad fell seriously ill while on holiday in Spain. He was enjoying his time in Benidorm when he suddenly got sick.
On January 19, he was rushed to a private hospital for treatment. Due to high costs, his family moved him to a public hospital in Alicante.
Doctors diagnosed him with sepsis and possible spinal damage. His family was worried and wanted to bring him back home.
To help, they started a fundraiser. The Bristol Bar in Dennistoun shared it, and they raised over £11,000.
On February 2, his granddaughter Sarah shared good news. Her grandad is now back in Glasgow and receiving care.
She expressed gratitude, saying they turned off the donation page after safely bringing him home. The family is thankful for everyone’s support.
Sarah mentioned her grandad is getting stronger every day and is in good hands with the NHS. They feel forever grateful for the community’s help.
