Wigan: A British grandmother, Patricia Bunting, is in a tough spot after catching Covid while on a family holiday in Florida. She’s been in the hospital for over seven weeks now, and her family is really worried.

Patricia, 76, had been looking forward to this trip to Disney World for two years. Sadly, she got sick and now her family is trying to raise money to bring her back home. They’ve managed to gather over £40,000 to help with her medical bills and travel costs.

Her daughter, Emma, thought they had a medical flight scheduled to take Patricia back to Wigan, but complications popped up, and now they’re left waiting. Emma shared how hard it is for the family, saying they’re all eager for Patricia to come home.

Patricia has some serious health issues, including COPD and an irregular heart rate. She was feeling exhausted before she collapsed in the bathroom during the trip. After that, she spent five days in intensive care, and her family had to leave her behind when they ran out of money.

It’s been a real struggle, and the British Embassy hasn’t been much help either. They just wanted to know how the family planned to pay for the medical expenses. The hospital did offer some low-cost accommodation, but healthcare in the US is notoriously expensive.

If you want to help, you can check out their fundraising page online. Every little bit counts in getting Patricia the care she needs and bringing her home.
