Greater Manchester: A 69-year-old GP, Wayne Sefton Davis, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually abusing his patients over a staggering 15-year period. This is just awful.
During medical exams, he made some truly disturbing comments. He told one victim he needed to teach her how to please her husband and asked another if she was a virgin. Can you believe that?
The police started looking into his actions back in May 2020 after two brave women came forward. One of them revealed that she had been assaulted during an appointment way back in 2006.
After the news of his arrest broke, another victim stepped up to share her experience. It’s heartbreaking to think how many people might have been affected.
At Manchester Crown Court, Davis was found guilty of multiple sexual offenses, including sexual assault by penetration. He was sentenced and will be on the sex offenders register for life.
Detective Sergeant Charlotte Sullivan praised the victims for their courage. She said Davis’s actions were horrific and a complete abuse of trust. He was supposed to help them, not hurt them.
She also mentioned that while incidents like this are rare, the police are committed to working with medical practices to ensure safety and support for patients.
