London: So, on Friday, Charlotte Hawkins was hosting Good Morning Britain when she suddenly had to break some big news. It was all about the hostages in Gaza.
She shared that there’s been a deal made for their release, which is pretty huge. The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, confirmed it, and you could feel the tension lift a bit.
Charlotte mentioned that Netanyahu had put off a cabinet vote because of some last-minute changes from Hamas, but it looks like they’ve sorted that out now.
Then, she tossed it over to Sarah Coates, who was live from Tel Aviv. Sarah said that the Israeli security cabinet would be meeting soon to vote on this deal, which is a big deal in itself.
They’re hoping to get the ceasefire going by Monday. This whole thing started getting attention earlier in the week when the US and Qatar stepped in to help mediate.
Netanyahu had been working on the final details and even thanked President Biden for his support. But he had to delay the vote because he felt Hamas was trying to squeeze in some last-minute demands.
Now, with this new agreement, the security cabinet is set to vote before Shabbat, and then there’s a bigger vote planned for Saturday. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome!
